Young people show off their cybersecurity skills and earn Bitcoin. Bahçeşehir University Cyber Security Center organized a Capture the Flag (CTF) competition, aiming to contribute to the training of qualified cyber security experts and raising awareness.. In the competition, which brought together cyber security professionals, students and white hat hackers, all the competitors worked on 15 questions created on topics such as Cyber Security, Web, System, Network, Crypto, Misc and Theory in the cyber environment created for them.

In CTF, one of the most comprehensive competitions held in the field of cyber security in Turkey, nearly 15 teams fought fiercely to win the competition.. At the end of the competition, the first, second and third prize money was given to the winners in the form of Bitcoin.
BAU Cyber Security Center Cyber Security Specialist Erol Aktay, speaking before the competition, used the following statements:
This competitions are an important step in raising manpower and teaching young people how to defend and attack in the field of cyber security.. We will test some skills of our friends with CTF. For example, they will see how to access a website. This year is a first for us, I hope we can continue this in the coming years.
Aktay stated that the issue of cyber security is very important and said:
Software and R&D activities of start-up companies in the field of hardware need to be supported. Because cyber security is also a part of defense national defense.. When we talk to the companies in the sector or the heads of critical infrastructures, they complain that they cannot find people to employ.. For this reason, we should pay special attention to raising manpower in cyber security.
Darıcı: I learned before I could read and write
16-year-old high school student Eren Darıcı, who is among the youngest competitors of CTF He participated in the competition with his friend, 15-year-old Ahmet Kılıç.. Darıcı, who said that he had a passion for computers from a young age, used the following expressions:
I knew the shortcuts on the computer before I learned to read and write.. When I started playing games later, I thought about how these were done and my enthusiasm for coding started.
University student Hüseyin Altunkaynak, who participated in the competition with his team of four, stated that he became interested in computers mostly during his university years.. Altunkaynak said:
We started to participate in CTFs; we even organized a CTF among ourselves as a club.. Our friend recommended this competition, our club also shared it.. We signed up through them.
